Patio Door Tough To Lock

This customer in Edgworth got in contact as they noticed their back door was becoming tough to lock / unlock, & also felt “crunchy” for lack of a better term.🧐

We removed the mechanism from the door & found that the top shoot bolt had oxidised inside, causing the rust to bind up the shootbolt’s mechanism.

The extra strain required to operate the rusty shootbolt eventually caused the gearbox to fail also, so it’s a good job they got in touch when they did; as they’ve saved themselves the cost & headache of the gearbox failing whilst the door is locked.😀

We cleaned the rust out of the shootbolt & regreased it to ensure it operates correctly, before replacing the faulty gearbox and fitting everything back to the door.

We tested everything and confirmed it was all working perfectly before giving the door a quick realignment. This customer should be free from any more door issues on this door for a good while now!✅
