AirBnB Snapped Key, Gearbox, & Re-Alignment

This customer owns an AirBnB property & one of their tenants had accidentally snapped a key in the back door lock.🔑

We removed the lock non destructively before advising the owner that the current key/key lock wouldn’t suffice to pass a fire regulations inspection, & as they have plans to convert the property into a HMO, this is an absolutely crucial issue that requires rectifying.‼️

On further investigation, it appeared that the gearbox was starting to fail as it was stiff when turning the key, which was the reason the key snapped.

The gearbox issue was caused by the door being misaligned, so we realigned the door, replaced the gearbox with a new genuine replacement, then installed the new fire regulation compliant lock to leave the property legal, & the door working perfectly again!✅
